Scaling Up

The keys to scale up your business are attracting and retaining the right people, creating a truly differentiated strategy, directing flawless execution, and keeping cash reserves to weather the storms. Many contractors struggle with growth and breaking the barriers of a $10M, $50M or $100M Company. Fortunately, there are some very predictable barriers that companies will face. Having first-hand knowledge of these barriers, participants will be exposed to “what to expect” at various revenue sizes and “what to do” to overcome the challenges and remain profitable. The focus of the program will be in four critical areas of the business - namely People, Strategy, Execution, and Cash. This education class is intended only for NECA Contractors/Executive Members.

From Spreadsheets to Systems Building a Scalable Back Office + Practical AI for Contractors

As contractors grow, the systems that once “worked fine” can quickly become barriers to efficiency, visibility, and profitability. Manual processes, disconnected tools, and inconsistent workflows make it harder to scale—and even harder to stay competitive. In this practical, real-world webinar, we’ll explore how growing contractors are modernizing their back-office operations and thoughtfully integrating AI—without disrupting the field or overcomplicating the business.

This session is designed for subcontractors and construction leaders who want to streamline operations, improve decision-making, and build a foundation for sustainable growth.

What You’ll Learn

From Spreadsheets to Systems: Building a Scalable Back Office

  • How contractors in the $5M–$25M range begin to outgrow manual workflows across dispatch, billing, and job costing

  • What a “baseline” technology ecosystem looks like across HR, finance, and operations—and what can wait

  • A practical change management approach to ensure adoption across both field and office teams Using AI in Construction Operations—Without the Hype -Real-world, practical applications of AI in scheduling, call handling, estimating, and documentation

  • Where AI can drive immediate efficiency—and where human oversight remains critical

  • How to introduce AI tools in a way that builds trust, not resistance, among field teams
